FAIRMONT HISTORY

More 1930s Photographs

Here are five new postcards from the late 1920s or early 1930s. Postcards such as these are estimated by the NC Digital Museum to have originated between 1915 and 1930. The Hotel Fairmont, having been built and opened in 1929, falls just inside this date range and, I believe, allows us to accurately date them.

These postcards are just as we received them. We have removed most of the dot pattern to prevent onscreen moire and added mild sharpening to compensate. Everyone will easily recognize each as a Fairmont icon.

The museum has plans to include display these as some point in the future, perhaps in conjunction with a small exhibit about downtown Fairmont.
